August 19, 2025 – golf tournament results
It got about a dozen degrees hotter than “balmy” at Greenhorn Creek CC, Angel Camp last Tuesday, but it was still a fine day to chase little white balls around..
We had 25 brave souls attack the course and 5 teams ended up in the 60’s. The rest of us — who actually understand how math works — ended up in the 70’s. (Lol…)
Seriously, congrats to the following teams:
1st Place – With a blistering 65, we have Derle Davis and Steve Brown. $15 each
2nd Place – Richard Brandau and Joe Groh, just a whisper behind with their 66. $10 each
3rd Place (3 way tie) – 3 teams at 67 were sooo close to the big money – Rick Bronner and Raul Santana, Frank Rands and Matt Oliver, Dick Jobe and Jack Samuelian will each be able to buy most of a beer with their $5. As long as it’s not an import…
CTH # 3
- Matt Oliver knocked his ball to 6’7″ of the cup for 1st place – $15
- Jim Bunker was a mere 14 inches farther away with his 7’9″ shot – $10
- Dave McGuigan, the freshest of our new guys, came in 3rd with a nice 10’2″, good for $5.
CTH #13 For some reason I thought this was going to be an easy hole, but…
- Jobbs or Jobbz or is it Tobhs? I can’t tell who this is. Maybe some random guy who got in the middle of our tournament? Anyway, he rolled his ball within 8’2″ for a 1st place finish worth $15
- Joe Del Razo, who has some very nice, clear handwriting, came in 2nd with a precision 16′ 5.5″ shot for $10
- Last but not least, big Mikey Wright ended up 25’2″ from the cup for 3rd place and $5.
Fun Facts –
- We only had 2 AGG’s (Actually Good Golfers) Tuesday – Jack Samuelian led the way with an awesome 88. And even though his playing partners did their best to slow him down and throw him off his game, John Holthouser came in just under the wire with an 89.
- Big Bad Mikey Wright played all five par 3’s at actual par!
- Steve Brown managed to birdie the par 3 3rd hole. Without even being one of the 5 guys listed on the CTH sheet! Ninja golf, Steve!
And finally…
Some clown got his cart stuck on a big rock and he and his partner pathetically tried and tried to push it off – with no luck. Then a gal golfer took pity on them, lifted up the back of the cart and pushed them off. I owe you a beer, sweetie!
